His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Asim, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives has departed for New York City, United States on an official visit.

While in New York City, Minister Asim will be holding a number of bilateral consultations with Permanent Representatives of Member States to the United Nations to discuss a range of issues. He will also be seeking their support for the Maldives candidature for a non-permanent seat of the United Nations Security Council for the term 2019-2020.

Minister Asim will be in New York City until the 26th of January 2018 upon which he will travel to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to meet a number of African countries participating in the African Union Summit.
